On any given week there are hundreds of shows to see in New York City. It’s impossible to hit all of them, so the experts on the My Social List team will be hand-picking their “can’t miss” artists for the week.
Who They Are: You may recognise Wymond Miles as the lead guitarist in Fresh & Onlys, but in my opinion his solo output surpasses even their great work.
What They Sound Like: Whilst Fresh & Onlys excel at head-nodding garage rock, Wymond takes his solo work in a more sombre, almost gothic-songwriter direction. His voice offers a longing croon of introspection that deserves centre-stage. If you want reference points, there’s some Echo and the Bunnymen or The Cure to be found here.
What They’re Up To: His second solo album, Cut Yourself, was released in October via Sacred Bones.
Where To See ‘Em: Opening for Crocodiles at the Music Hall of Williamsburg on the 23rd of October (get tickets here). Appearances on this side of the country are fairly rare, so take what chance you have! Get notified of future shows by clicking here.
Essential Listening: Previous album, Under the Pale Moon was one of the crowning achievements by anyone in 2012. If the song, Pale Moon doesn’t stir something in you then I’m not sure you’re human. You can then enjoy latest single, Night Drives.
