Artist to Watch: Bennio Qwerty

On any given week there are hundreds of shows to see in New York City. It’s impossible to hit all of them, so the experts on the My Social List team will be hand-picking their “can’t miss” artists for the week.

Who They Are: Brooklyn trio Mike Barron, Nathan Delffs and Louie Glaser met on a construction site in Williamsburg. They had all been in previous bands before; North Highlands, Forest Fire and Wise Blood.

What They Sound Like: Bennio Qwerty’s music would fit perfectly on Dischord Records. There is a controlled intensity to the songs, which can switch between straight up rock and roll and intricate instrumentation, the vocals also vary from a commanding bark to a clean and catchy melody. As I said, lovers of Dischord Records will find much to rejoice in here.

What They’re Up To: Their second EP, Picture Of, along with debut, EP, have both been released this year and are available on their bandcamp page for which you can name your price to own.

Where To See ‘Em: They play Death By Audio TONIGHT, along with Bad History Month, Sediment Club and Beuno and it’s only $7. Keep up to date with future shows HERE.

Essential Listening: Check out Crutch from their debut EP, but really, both releases are damn good so just go nuts.
