Artist to Watch: Imaginary Boys

On any given week there are hundreds of shows to see in New York City. It’s impossible to hit all of them, so the experts on the My Social List team will be hand-picking their “can’t miss” artists for the week.

Who They Are: Tony Toscani and Will Jones formed Imaginary Boys in South Jersey and are now based in Brooklyn.

What They Sound Like: If the glistening ice on a frozen lake had a sound it would be Imaginary Boys, they have that beautiful dreampop shine. Reference points would be the more concise moments of bands like The Church, Ride or Pale Saints.

What They’re Up To: Debut album, Limerence, was released in August, which you can download or order the CD (limited run of 50, I bought #2!) at their bandcamp page. They also released a single, Gift, just before christmas, which you can download for free.

Where To See ‘Em: Catch what is, from what I can gather, only their third ever show as they play the frontier room at The Bell House on Thursday, and it’s only $5. Tickets here. Track future shows HERE.

Essential Listening: As a starter I’m going to recommend album opener, Mantua, Madrid and also recent single Gift.
